Mission & Vision
The Mission of NTMir
Our mission at NTM Info & Research (NTMir) is to save and improve lives by promoting research, early detection, and education, as well as improved treatment programs for people diagnosed with pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease.
Through the creation and execution of innovative programs such as our Rapid Information Pilot Studies (RIPS)™, a Continuing Medical Education program for physicians and a yearly patient education and advocacy event in Washington, D.C., NTMir continues to meet challenges that arise in the pursuit of our goals.
Vision 2010
During the years 2008 – 2010 we will initiate and complete two Pilot Studies per year that will serve as a foundation to secure large-scale research funding from both private and federal government sources.
By the year 2010, our goal is to double the number of patients who are being correctly identified as having pulmonary NTM infections.
NTMir will provide leadership at the national level to meet all goals through inclusive collaborative efforts, education and advocacy.
Strategic Plan
- More Rapid Information Pilot Studies (RIPS)™ to secure large-scale research funding
- Present our Continuing Medical Education course to physicians across the United States.
- Work with patient support groups who participate in the NTMir mission.
- Support multi-centered initiatives to benefit NTM patients, physicians and researchers.
- Engage patients and physicians in our goal to increase awareness of NTM among government agencies, industry, insurance companies, and laboratories.
- Stop and reverse lung damage associated with bronchiectasis and inflammation by supporting basic science, including the development of new medications, geared toward the treatment of NTM disease.
